At present, the application of aluminum alloy in the shipbuilding industry is more and more extensive, from small rafts, motorboats, to 10,000 tons of giant wheels, from civilian to military, from high-speed hovercraft to deep-water submarines, from fishing boats to marine mining vessels. The Marine Grade Aluminum material with good performance is used as the ship’s shell, superstructure, various facilities, piping and appliances. Today we will introduce the application of aluminum alloy on the hull.
The working environment of the ship requires structural materials to have certain mechanical strength, fatigue strength, elongation and impact resistance. However, high-strength aluminum alloys are often difficult to have excellent corrosion resistance and weldability at the same time. Therefore, aluminum alloys for ships are generally selected from medium-strength corrosion-resistant weldable aluminum alloys.
Application of 5083 aluminum plate in hull is the most extensive,The 5083 aluminum plate is a typical magnesium aluminum silicon alloy with high corrosion resistance and rust resistance. The underwater part of the hull, especially in the years of seawater contact, the underwater part of the hull should be able to withstand the corrosion of seawater and be durable. The most commonly used products in this part are the 5083H116 and 5083H321. The ship plates in these two states have the best corrosion resistance and are more suitable for the underwater environment than the H111 and H112.
The keel is a longitudinal member that connects the bow column and the stern column at the center of the hull of the hull and is located at the bottom of the ship. There are traversing rib reinforcements on the top of the keel. The bow and the stern, the keel bypasses the mast. The keel is usually the first part of the hull to be built.
The second function of the keel is to enlarge the side area of the ship, improve the parallel impedance of the ship in the water, and prevent the crosswind from turning. This is especially important for headwind sailing. The keel on the sailboat will be supported by a bracing in the middle or on the side of the skeleton. In addition, the keel also plays an important role in the stability of the ship’s weight, reducing the ship’s tilt or reverse rotation.
The ship side and the bottom plate of the ship require high corrosion resistance. Generally, the high-magnesium alloy of 5083H16 aluminum plate or 5083H321 is usually used for the production, and the special degree of the surface passivation film and the self-repairing ability after the rupture are obtained. The chloride ion in the damage of the passivation film is particularly strong, which causes the aluminum alloy to be passive in the seawater and is prone to local corrosion such as pitting and crevice corrosion.
Marine Grade Aluminum is the development direction of many aluminum processing enterprises in recent years. The domestic production of marine aluminum alloy enterprises has been transformed and upgraded by representatives of Chinalco, Southwest Aluminum, Nanshan Aluminum, Mingtai Aluminum, Wanda Aluminum and other manufacturers. Among them, Mingtai Aluminum is the fastest.
Henan Mingtai Aluminum Co., Ltd. is China’s leading marine aluminum sheet manufacturer with two production bases. The factory covers an area of 250,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of over 600,000 tons. In 2015, Mingtai Aluminum’s 5083 ship plate passed the certification of China Classification Society (CCS), and obtained relevant certificates. Mingtai 5083 ship board has superior performance and its products sell well at home and abroad, and has established long-term cooperation with many well-known ship manufacturers. In addition to the 5083 aluminum plate, Mingtai Aluminum 5086 aluminum plate, 5754 aluminum plate, 5052 aluminum plate and other products have also entered the world shipbuilding market.
